Kroger Project 2014

On November 15, 2014, over $22,000 in cash and items destined for our Military were donated by the wonderful customers of 11 different Kroger stores in our community.  These donations were used by Operation Military Embrace ("OME") to enhance the missions of the free PX on December 15 at SAMMC (San Antonio Military Medical Center) as well as shipping care packages to the men and women of all branches of our military who are deployed in harms way.
Members from 8 different chapters of National Charity League (Bluebonnet, Kings Trails, Kingwood, Lake Houston, Magnolias, Montgomery Monarchs, Texas Topaz and Woodlands), Civil Air Patrol Cadets, and key volunteers from OME staffed the various Kroger stores and greeted customers. The outpouring of support from the community was humbling and a reminder that our military have not been forgotten.  Most of what was gathered for care packages reached our men and women in time for Christmas where they have been deploeyd.  Of course, anytime of the year that a care package arrives, our deployed military consider it to be "Christmas"!  Here are a few photos from that event.
Thanks to ALL involved for bringing smiles to those at SAMMC and in the far flung deployments around the world!
