Our Latest Visit to SAMMC

December 2011

Welcome!  Thank you for accessing the “OME” website. I believe that you will find it replete with information about the handful of courageous heroes who selflessly serve you and me and who ask nothing in return.  “OME” is a Texas-based 501c3 military support charity that does its best to Help, Understand, Give and Serve those who have sacrificed so much for America.

OME supports wounded military & their families at San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) and other military & private facilities by:

  • Providing one-on-one support and comfort through regular visits to SAMMC
  • Filling individual private requests of injured personnel (portable DVD players, autographed sports memorabilia)
  • Sponsoring a monthly breakfast and free PX ("military store") in honor of our wounded outpatients and their families (this is like a pay raise for them - a welcome event since their pay is already so low)
  • Hosting outings & dinners for outpatients & families
  • Providing financial assistance in their time of crisis (Example: a single Mom leaves her job for over a year to care for her wounded loved one)

OME also:

  • Challenges inadequate Physical Evaluation Board disability ratings for seriously wounded military
  • Coordinates legal assistance for those in the military who are accused of battlefield crimes

Remembering Vietnam, “OME” strives to show the wounded military how much the American people appreciate their service and their sacrifices, and to raise the public’s awareness of the difficulties and challenges endured by our wounded military and their families. This is accomplished by personal “hands-on” support and by public-speaking engagements to educate churches, corporations, clubs, veterans’ groups, fraternal organizations, women’s groups, and other interested Americans.
